EXTENDED BROOKS FAMILY GENEALOGY

|
It was January of 1930 when Hubert Brooks (Papa) died after an extended illness. He was buried at Friedenstal Catholic Cemetery located just 6km south east of Fairview. Obviously this was a trying time for wife Marie.
Marie's younger brother (by 1 year) Hyppolyte Gr�goire, now known as Paul Gr�goire, a bachelor, arrived in Bluesky to assist Marie. Paul was an excellent handyman around the farm and helped his sister Marie immensely. No known photo exists for Paul.
Also at this time the family made the decision to hire 15 year old Leonard (Chick) Knott at a rate of $10/month. Chick started to work around the homestead as a farm hand helping out Marie. Chick was one of the very fortunate Indian boys from the local reserve who had not succombed to flu virus that had killed so many of his tribe. Chick was a very straight forward, non-pretentious hard working boy -- who was also quite gullible and the butt of numermous Brooks brothers practical jokes.
